MATTERHORN
You can’t give animals advice
To heathens knowledge is a blithering crime
But when their fireworks ignite
They hear Vivaldi’s radiant might
Statues of Venus DeMilo in flight
And Day-Glo begonias appear in the sky
But quickly dissolve into streamlets of olive and beige
The moment their leash is untied
Obviously there was a Matterhorn-sized spike beneath their chair
How else could they ever leap so high
And fall like angels without wings?
Their indentations in the ground
Upon their impact leave the telltale signs
Of sleeping geniuses aroused
And dormant behavior awakened from sound slumber
Creationist theories abound
Blending the ups with the mids with the downs
But none can explain how creation is wrought from the flame
Or why the savant-like and mildly insane
Perform acts of the vanguard and bellwether strain
Important and meekly profound
XTC had their moment in time...this recording extends it...Full of small, tight , quirky songs it juz rolls along. Recommended but maybe only for XTC fans.. cwhitney
It's the Agony Aunts! (aka - The Corner Laughers!) Really, that's all you need to know. If you have not heard them before, start by listening to the album "Greater Miranda" - if it doesn't get you completely hooked on this amazing San Francisco area band, then nothing will Kat Smith
